Why cruise-specific cover?
Standard travel insurance doesn't recognise the unique risks of cruising. Norovirus confinement, ports skipped due to weather, missing the ship's sailing time — none are covered without a cruise add-on.
River cruises
River cruises in Europe are covered under standard cruise cover. Some longer or more remote river itineraries (Amazon, Mekong) may need the worldwide region.
Joining a cruise from abroad
If you fly to a port to join the cruise, the journey to and from the port is covered under your travel insurance, including missed connections.

Is medical onboard treated as cruise cover?+
Onboard medical is paid at the same medical limit as the rest of your policy. Some insurers cap onboard medical lower — we don't.
What if a port is skipped?+
If the cruise line skips a scheduled port for any reason, our missed port benefit pays a fixed amount per port.
Is travel by air to the port covered?+
Yes — all flights and connections related to the cruise are covered, including missed departure cover.
